District Contracts To Outfit ECE Center Playground
Affton School District’s new Early Childhood Education Center on Reavis Road is complete, up and running, but as District Business Manager John Brazeal told the school board, “We’re not done yet.”
An outdoor play area is a critical component of any ECEC, and Brazeal noted that one is not yet in place. Following a unanimous vote, the play area will be supplied by Hutchinson Recreation & Design to the tune of $56,480.
Hutchinson submitted the lowest of three bids — $82,454 by All-Inclusive Recreation and $99,615 by Bollinger & Associates — and in Brazeal’s words, “a superior proposal at the best pricing.”
The district will begin working with the company on the specific layout and features of the playground and it is likely $3,000 to $9,000 will be added to the final price tag, Brazeal said. The playground should be completed by the end of October.
Future Board Meetings To Be At Early Childhood Center
Board President Mike McNeil noted that the Aug. 21 board meeting will be the last at Rogers Elementary for the foreseeable future, as the next meetings will be on the “rainbow stage” at the new Early Childhood Education Center, 9832 Reavis Road.
